SEER is a rating for air conditioners. It stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. A SEER for an air conditioning unit is determined in a laboratory. To determine the rating, the laboratory measures the efficiency the unit achieves after running for 15 minutes. So, if your unit does not run at least 15 minutes at a time, it will never achieve the full efficiency of its rating. Most air conditioning installers don’t understand how to install an air conditioner properly, so most units in the home does not reach its SEER ratings. If you are concerned your unit isn’t functioning properly, give us a call. We would be happy to come out and take a look at it.
