Yes, all plumbing companies state that they work on tankless systems, but do they have techs that received the appropriate training? I’ve had three service calls over six years on my tankless system. All did some work, charged me a ton of money, and then the same or new problems occurred. Then I called Five Star and they told me they DID have certified experts and sent Kaleb out to check my system. I knew within the first five minutes that this was going to be a completely different experience. Kaleb was professional, well-informed, and thoughtful. He told me that my system wasn’t recoverable, not great news, but told me that he could install a new system correctly and I trusted that he could. He pointed out at least six major installation errors with my old system, told me why they caused the problems I was having. He showed up the next day to install the new system and his attention to detail was first class. I would highly recommend Five Star, and specifically Kaleb, if you have any work that needs to be done on your tankless system.

Julian Ramirez did a fantastic job
On 6/17/24, Julian Ramirez did a fantastic job troubleshooting our system after it froze. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable—fielding many technical questions about why the system froze in the first place along with providing information about what we could do to mitigate the issues. The issue ended up being low refrigerant (the system was missing 3 lbs out of 7.2 lbs) combined with higher than desired system static pressure.
His visit was a polar opposite from our previous one. We had a tech come out on 6/15/24 that checked the refrigerant levels and said they were fine after our system froze on 6/14/24. He was unwilling to troubleshoot further or try to determine why our 3.5-year-old system was freezing up less than 2 months after our biannual maintenance checkup as he said the schedule was too hectic to do anything further since our system had started working again after I defrosted the system, replaced the air filter (1-year rated filter that was less than 2 months old), and ensured the condensation drain line was unclogged. He denied a direct request to check out the electrical on the system to ensure it was working properly. However, he sure was willing to try to get someone out to give us a quote to redo all of our ductwork.
Regardless, I will be requesting Julian for future appointments, and he redeemed what was previously a bad experience.

Mind Blown by Next Day Installation
This past weekend my HVAC unit was not working as well as usual, especially with a 20-year-old unit. So, I had to reach out to someone and previously worked with 5 Star. I called Friday and a technician came out Monday. Marcos was very honest and helpful about telling me this was the end for my unit. 5 Star was so prepared that Stephen was out too and ready to provide me options for a new unit. When deciding on an install date, Stephen told me they could come out the next day. Mind blown! Jack and Tony were very diligent and ensured that everything was ready to go. I really appreciate all involved to make this process efficient! They even had good financing options for those, like me, not prepared for these unplanned homeowner issues.

AC went out Sat night and Sun was told it would be about 5 pm but John came out was early and found the problem and had it fixed. It did take a while for the house to cool down and when I was worried about that they talked to me explained things I had questions about and also will check in to make sure all is doing good, cooled off, and happy.
